The Windle Valley Youth Project serves the Surrey towns of Bagshot, Lightwater and Windlesham. The project was set set up with the support of churches in the area.

Purpose

Our purpose is to work together to serve all the young people (11-18) of the Windle Valley. We aim to support young people in reaching their full potential by understanding and serving their social, spiritual and recreational needs.

How we work

The project employs a youth worker and has a team of volunteers supporting our work both directly involved in youth work delivery and indirectly on the executive board and in other supporting roles.

We encourage and support young people to take an active role in running and directing the project.

The WVYP is a Christian project. Alongside our service to all young people, we aim to share the good news of Jesus Christ, to encourage living by positive Christian values and to support those who want to grow spiritually.

The project has three main areas of focus:

  • schools work (including working in schools that the young people attend outside of the Windle Valley
  • spiritual growth (“discipleship”) and
  • work in the community (e.g. open youth clubs, detached work, community improvement projects).

Some activities run at a village level whilst others are combined across the Windle Valley

We work in consultation with other agencies and aim to collaborate where possible.

The project is supported by the following churches:
