KT reaches Live and Unsigned Semi-Final

KT (Katy Hurt) from Windlesham took the judging panel of the UK’s biggest original music competition by storm and was just one step away from playing at London’s O2 in the Grand Final of Live and Unsigned.  She was voted by judges as one of the best in the Regional Final Showcase and in the Area Final KT competed against the most talented bands and artists in the country on Saturday 19th May 2012.

KT battled against the best talent in the region, to secure a coveted spot in the Area Finals and performed in front of hundreds of spectators as well as a professional judging panel, including judges from Radio One, Kerrang and Choice FM.

More than 10,000 acts entered nationally with the winners taking home a £10,000 main cash prize and the Live and Unsigned festival tour.

Windle Valley Youth Project is pleased to announce StepUp.  StepUp is a small grants programme which aims to celebrate, encourage and support success in young people.

It is open to young people aged 11-18 who live in Surrey Heath, who are starting to succeed at a regional (eg county, South East etc) or national level in their chosen activity.  Success could be in any of a range of fields including academic, sporting, artistic or community focussed.

Successful applicants will receive a grant of £50-£200, publicity and in some cases professional advice to boost their success.

Surrey Heath Youth Councillors receive prestigious Diana Award

Youth councillors from Bagshot, Lightwater and Windlesham along with their colleagues on the Surrey Heath Youth Council received the prestigious Diana Award this week for their achievements and volunteering.
